About Us

Wetheringsett Village Hall has been at the heart of our community since it first opened its doors in 1921. Over the years, it has witnessed countless celebrations, gatherings, and milestones — a true hub for village life through both the highs and the lows.

Today, the Hall is a registered charity (No. 803509), overseen by three Trustees and run by a dedicated team of local volunteers. Together, we’re committed to preserving its legacy while ensuring it remains a welcoming, accessible space for everyone to enjoy.

Our current Chair, Colin, brings fresh ideas and a clear vision for the future. With the support of the whole team, we’re working hard to revitalise the Hall and put it back at the centre of village life — where it belongs.

Colin Green – Chair

Although Colin only stepped into the role of Chair in 2025, he and his wife Hilary have been part of the village community since 2001. With a professional background in building and electrics, Colin has been putting his skills to excellent use at the Hall. And when he’s not busy with that, he’s the quiet force behind the scenes with Curtains Up!

Penny Anscombe – Treasurer

Penny manages our finances and has been a long-standing member of the Wetheringsett community, where she lives with her husband Richard. In her spare time, you might spot her soaring through the Norfolk skies or cycling along our beautiful country lanes.

Stephen Dodgson – Team Member

Stephen and his wife Cathy may be newcomers to the village, having moved here in early 2025, but they already feel right at home. With a background in IT and strong organisational skills, Stephen is keen to contribute to the success of the Village Hall. He also serves as a member of the Parish Council.

Hilary Green – Secretary / Administrator

As mentioned above, Hilary is married to Colin and lives in the village with their two dogs, Basil and Tiggy. Hilary is our Secretary and keeps our meetings focused and on track. When she’s not busy with committee work, Hilary enjoys putting her creative talents to use through a variety of crafts.

Nigel Lingard – Trustee

Nigel has been part of the village since 1998 and brings a wealth of experience to the committee. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Parish Council, is one of our Trustees, and plays an active role on the Village Hall committee. Nigel was instrumental in securing the installation of our solar panels, which now provide a valuable source of income for the Hall.

Sue Stannard – Bookings

Sue has been involved with the Village Hall for more years than she cares to admit and plays a vital role as our Bookings Officer, ensuring the Hall is always ready to welcome its next event. She’s also a key member of Curtains Up!, who regularly bring their performances to life right here at the Hall.
